The Overdrive Head brings high volume spinning to Majacraft wheels in a new way.
Suzy Brown of Woolwench provided much of the impetus and encouragement to complete the development of the Overdrive. She also carried out a lot of testing during the development process to help perfect the design. Majacraft has been thinking about large capacity bobbins for many years and we think this solution is exceptional.
By building the Overdrive as an accessory head, it will turn your existing Majacraft spinning wheel into a production style wheel. The secret sauce of the Overdrive is using the Aura hybrid style double drive to power it. This means that the bobbin is directly driven so it does not suffer from inertial issues when the bobbin is filled. It is light and responsive to spin with right to the finish.
If you are curious about the capacity of the bobbins for the Overdrive head, they hold five litres of yarn (over a gallon!). This is five times more yarn than the Majacraft Jumbo bobbins.
The Overdrive has been designed to fit not only on the double drive Aura but it will also work with the Rose and Suzie/Suzie Professional.
Accessories to complement the Overdrive Head include individual bobbins and a tensioned lazy kate that fits the Overdrive bobbins.
High Speed Head
The High Speed Head is much more than a simple accessory. Adding this head to your Rose or Suzie will turn it into a super lace weight spinning wheel.
By modifying and "gearing up" a standard spinning head, it is now possible to spin at ratios up to 38:1 (on the Rose, the maximum speed is closer to 28:1 on a Suzie/Suzie Professional). If you are interested in lace or cotton spinning then this will really help to make the task simpler and much more efficient.
A very light tension spring is used to increase the sensitivity of the brake adjustment which is very important when spinning at high speeds.
A lace kit is a perfect compliment to the high speed head as the small flyers rotate very freely due to their low rotational inertia.
